Blanche L. Yancik
June 26, 1936 to February 8, 2010





 

Torrington- Blanche L. Yancik, 73, formerly of 52 Summer Street, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2010, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Yancik was born in Torrington on June 26, 1936, daughter of the late Elbert and Evelyn (Schufeld) Becker and was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club at the Torrington Towers, an avid knitter and reader and adored her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Michael B. Yancik, Jr., Christopher A. Yancik and Darrin J. Yancik, all of Torrington, two daughters, Robin A. Mendyka and her husband Stanley J., of Moriarty, NM and Darci J. Stenson and her husband Bill, of Torrington, three sisters, Beatrice Becker of Torrington, Juanita Sieller of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Evelyn Bergs of Goshen, three brothers, Elbert Becker and Edwin Becker both of Torrington, and Wayne Becker of Norwalk, seven grandchildren, Nicholas Roy, Brandon Yancik, Erin Medina, Jenessa Yancik, Madeline Stenson, William Stenson and Daniel Stenson, six great-grandchildren, Magdalena Roy, Natalia Medina, Nathan Roy, Abigail Enos, Macie Enos and Brenna Enos and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yancik was predeceased by a son, Perry M. Yancik, two brothers, Grover Becker and Reginald Becker, four sisters, Betty Leichner, Mildred Weigold, Alvaretta Murray and Linda Dick.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 12:00p.m. at The Gleeson Mortuary, 258 Prospect Street, Torrington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.
