TORRINGTON – Roger J. Waltos, 83, of 888 Main Street died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Janusonis) Waltos. Mr. Waltos was born in Torrington on May 30, 1926, a son of the late Charles and Aline (Mougenot) Waltos and was lifelong resident. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a gunner’s mate on the battle cruiser USS Guam. Mr. Waltos was a co-owner of Waltos Brothers Tune-up and Carburetor Co. in Torrington with his brother Howard for 24 years and then owned Torrington Brake Co. for twenty-five years until his retirement in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church where he occasionally served as an usher, a life member of Torrington Lodge of Elks, and a former member of the Torrington Pistol Club. He was an avid traveler, skier, and loved gourmet foods. He is survived by one brother, Howard W. Waltos and his wife Kathleen of Torrington; two sisters, Lenore Patterson and her husband Irving of Litchfield and Elaine Turri of Torrington; a special niece, Kendra Turri of Torrington, nephews Barry Patterson and his wife Susan, of Harwinton and Dirk Patterson and his wife Marla of Litchfield and several other nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. |
